iThe Church of the Good Shepherd

The Church of the Good Shepherd will celebrate its Golden Jubilee this year 2007. To celebrate the 50 annivererary, the Parish Pastoral Council has approved of a mural painting of “Jesus, The Good Shepherd” to be commissioned and mounted on the wall behind the altar. On the recommendation of the Diocesan Commission for Sacred Art And Architecture, Archbishop Diarmuid Martin has sanctioned this project. The painting is currentlybeen worked on in Donal Murray’s’ studio in Naas, and will be completed in July 2007. The Archbishop of Dublin Dr. Diarmuid Martin will bless the new painting on Sunday 30th September.donal workingdonalphoto

Past Projects

Joint Collaboration project at Our Saviours Church

Donal Murray and Ken Jan Woo have collaborated to produce the 24ft high Religious Icon of Christ Pantrocrator, which means Greek for “ruler of all”. It is situated in the Church of Our Saviours on Park Ave and 38th street.

Ken Jan and Donal have collaborated on a number of Church murals throughout the United States, in North Carolina and Kentucky. They both met while studying at the New York Academy of Art in 2002. Mr. Woo comes from a long line of mural painters; his mother and grandmother have worked on murals paintings for the Chinese government.
